“CROWDS, IOT AND AI BUSINESS MODELS”

by Prof. Christopher TUCCI – Professor of Management of Technology at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)

discussant: Laurent Bianchini – Connected Services Vice President – Renault Trucks

Abstract: This talk is for a broad, general audience.  We review sources of data that come from crowds and/or sensors and how they can be exploited for innovation.  We discuss how firms might consider investing in Industry 4.0.  We then discuss business models and business model innovation before delving into new business models that take advantage of artificial intelligence, which in this particular case is oriented toward analyzing crowd or sensor data.  We finish the talk with a discussion on why it is so difficult to reconfigure incumbents’ business models.
